Contemporary Art Society- The politics of porcelain: Jacqui Ramrayka revisits Britain’s colonial past
The V&A, Gallery 29
The London-based ceramicist Jacqui Ramrayka has embraced her 2024 Adobe Global Ceramics Residency at the V&A as an opportunity to shed light on a largely forgotten chapter of British imperial history: the legacy of indenture. Drawing deeply on her British-Guyanese heritage, Ramrayka excavates the layered histories of the Indo-Caribbean diaspora, giving tangible form to themes of belonging, memory, and grief.
